Global iron deficiency and innovative solutions

Iron deficiency remains the world’s most common mineral deficiency, and has been as particularly problematic among the Asian population. Currently available pharmaceutic and supplement solutions often have undesirable traits, like gastric discomfort and unpleasant taste.

Developers are challenged with delivering an iron solution that is sufficient in nutritional content, efficacious and appealing in taste and delivery format to both adult and child consumers. Charlotte Bastiaanse, associate editor at Vitafoods Insights, talks to Maja Orešnik, science and research director at PharmaLinea, about the brand’s line of iron supplements which will be featured at Vitafoods Asia 2019.
