The UK government's Childhood Obesity Plan was launched in 2017, aiming to significantly reduce England's childhood obesity rate over the next ten years. The plan wants the food and drink industry to cut sugar in products by 5 percent, although ultimately targets a 20 percent reduction; health experts, campaigners and MPs have criticised the plan for not going far enough. The plan also wants primary schools to ensure children get at least 30 minutes of physical activity per day and will boost funds to school sports. Louise Tse, registered dietitian and part of Public Health England's team implementing the Plan, joins us to discuss its goals, challenges and successes.
